Description
Scarce early original vintage photographic post card of notable orchestra leader Paul Pendarvis and his Orchestra.This photograph shows Paul Pendarvis inset at the top who also played the violin and saxophone. His orchestra is pictured below him.
Pendarvis formed his first band in Kansas City where he played local hotels, clubs, and on various radio shows. He later played the Congress Hotel in Chicago. Some sidemen in the Pendarvis band were Charlie Watkins, Ernie Redd, Bill Osborn, BobHall, Herb Wiggins, and Willie Parr. The band recorded for Columbia and Gennett Records. Pendarvis did the singing plus playing a number of instruments. When Pendarvis disbanded the the early ’40’s, he became a radio station musical director.
Photo Post Card measures 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches and is in very good condition with light surface wear (see scans). There are no bends, tears, or creases. Back has postmark and stamp plus promotional message (see scan).
