    Description

    This is a beautiful Register Celebrate Sugar Dish with a Lid.  It is vibrantly colored with a floral design around the bottom of the bowl. It features orange, yellow, blue, purple with black outlines.  It stands approximately 3" tall including the lid and is  5 3/4" from handle to handle.  It is  3" in diameter on the bottom.  It is in very good condition.  There is some fading on the black outlines.  There are also some rough spots on the bottom unpolished edges.
    History
    Celebrate was an importer’s mark by the Borgfeldt Company of New York, New York (USA). George Borgfeldt was born in 1833 in Meldorf (Germany).   In 1855 he immigrated to Nashville where he started a trading business company in 1861. In 1881 he moved to New York where he started the George Borgfeldt & Co trading company. Borgfeldt imported pottery from several Bohemian and Czechoslovakian pottery factories, including the former BIHL Company.
    You will find the "Celebrate" back stamp on pieces from Occupied Japan, Czechoslovakia and Germany.
